My child permanently catches a cold and I use PARACETAMOL, because this is the only thing by which I could relieve his pain and reduce fever.

KETOROLAC - INJECTION:

(kee-TOE-row-lack)

Common brand name

Toradol

Warning

Do not use oral and/or injectable ketorolac for mild or chronic pain nor should their combined use go longer than 5 days. This drug must not be injected into the spine. Use only the amount prescribed. Do not use this drug if you are in labor, breast-feeding, have stomach problems (e.g., peptic ulcer), major kidney problems, bleeding problems, severe dehydration, or if you are having surgery. Do not use ketorolac while using aspirin or other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen). "Blood thinners" (e.g., heparin, warfarin) should be used with extreme caution. Because this drug can cause a severe allergic reaction, appropriate medical help must be on hand, especially for the first dose. Do not use ketorolac if you are allergic to aspirin, NSAID or ketorolac itself. Seek immediate medical attention if an allergic reaction occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. Elderly patients, those weighing less than 110-lbs (50kg), and those with mild kidney problems must not exceed 60mg/day when using the injectable form of this drug. This drug may infrequently cause serious (rarely fatal) bleeding from the stomach or intestines. Also, related drugs rarely have caused blood clots to form, resulting in heart attacks and strokes. This medication might also rarely cause similar problems. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about the benefits and risks of treatment, as well as other possible medication choices. If you notice any of the following rare but very serious side effects, stop using ketorolac and seek immediate medical attention: black stools, persistent stomach/abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, chest pain, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes, slurred speech.

Uses:

This medication is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that relieves pain and reduces swelling. It is for short-term use only (no more than 5 days).

How to use

Read the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist before you start using ketorolac and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions regarding the information, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Learn all preparation and usage instructions in the product package. If any of the information is unclear, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Inject this medication into a vein (IV) or into a muscle (IM) every 6 hours as needed or as directed by your doctor. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. If given IV, inject this drug slowly over at least 15 seconds. Under no circumstances should the combined use of the injectable form and oral form of this drug be given for more than five days. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for details. Before using, check this product visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid. Learn how to store and discard needles and medical supplies safely. Consult your pharmacist.

Toradol side effects

Stomach upset is the most common side effect. Nausea, vomiting, bloating, gas, loss of appetite, sweating, dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, irritation at the injection site and abnormal tastes may also occur. If these effects become bothersome or severe, notify your doctor. Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Inform your doctor promptly if you develop: ringing in the ears, vision changes. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Toradol precautions

Before using ketorolac, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to aspirin or other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib); or if you have any other allergies. This medication should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: aspirin-sensitive asthma (a history of worsening breathing with runny/stuffy nose after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs), recent heart bypass surgery (CABG). Before using this medication, tell your doctor your medical history especially of: liver disease, kidney disease, poorly controlled diabetes, stomach problems (e.g., bleeding, ulcers), blood disorders (e.g., anemia), heart disease (e.g., congestive heart failure, history of heart attack), alcohol use, high blood pressure, stroke, swelling (edema, fluid retention), dehydration, bleeding or clotting problems, eye disease, asthma, growths in the nose (nasal polyps). Daily use of alcohol, especially when combined with this medicine, may increase your risk for stomach bleeding. Check with your doctor or pharmacist for more information. Do not take aspirin without consulting your doctor. Check the ingredients of any nonprescription medication you may be taking since many cough-and-cold formulas contain aspirin. Infrequently, this medication may increase the skin's sensitivity to sunlight. If this happens to you, avoid prolonged sun exposure, wear protective clothing and use a sunscreen. Avoid sunlamps. Caution is advised when this drug is used in the elderly. This medication should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Use of this drug during the last 6 months of pregnancy is not recommended. This drug is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
